Philosophy of FLT:

Our purpose at First Learning Tree is to foster both intellectual and spiritual development in young children. Our creative philosophy of learning allows our children to not only develop but maintain knowledge and understanding of their experiences. We believe in building a foundation of physical and academic skills combined with positive and healthy dispositions. Our trained educators and modern facilities enable us to meet children's needs and to model positive responses to life situations. Lesson plans at First Learning Tree have a strong emphasis on literacy. Math, science, art and music are offered daily thus preparing the child to be a successful student. "Chapel Time" and "Story Lady" contribute to fun and personal enrichment. The small classroom ratios, dedicated staff, and nutritious USDA-approved meals provide our children with a comfortable, nurturing, and safe environment.

Goals for Developement:

Knowledge and Understanding - During the early years a child's knowledge grows from a variety of experiences. Exposure to vocabulary, books, new concepts, music, their own culture as well as others all build knowledge. Our goal is for these children to understand what they are learning.

Skills - Skills are developed by direct instruction or by observing others and then applying what is seen or taught.

Dispositions Dispositions are revealed in how children are prone to react in various situations. These tendencies are acquired by observing others being friendly, curious, and helpful. With our guidance, children at First Learning Tree will acquire the knowledge, understanding, skills and dispositions that enable them to be successful in school.
