"We Grow to Learn. We Learn to Grow."
"Character is like a tree and reputation is like it's shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing."    Abraham Lincoln
At First Learning Tree the children are the shadow and we are the tree.

Philosophy of FLT:
Our purpose at First Learning Tree is to foster both intellectual and spiritual development in young children.  Our creative philosophy of learning allows our children to not only develop but maintain knowledge and understanding of their experiences.  We believe in building a foundation of physical and academic skills combined with positive and healthy dispositions.  Our trained educators enable us to meet children's needs and to model positive responses to life situations.  The small classroom ratios, dedicated staff, and nutritious USDA-approved meals provide our children with a comfortable, nurturing, and safe environment. Our enrichment classes of Chapel, Story Lady, Spanish, Music and Dance provide an opportunity to develop the whole child.
Goals for Development:
Knowledge and Understanding - During the early years a child's knowledge grows from a variety of experiences.  Exposure to vocabulary, books, new concepts, music, their own culture as well as others all build knowledge.  Our goal is for these children to understand what they are learning.
SkillsSkills are developed by direct instruction or by observing others and then applying what is seen or taught.
Dispositions  Dispositions are revealed in how children are prone to react in various situations.  These tendencies are acquired by observing others being friendly, curious, and helpful.  With our guidance, children at First Learning Tree will acquire the knowledge, understanding, skills and dispositions that enable them to be successful in school.
